ParkLocate Privacy Policy

Last updated: Apr 9, 2026

1. App Purpose

ParkLocate on iOS and Android helps users save their parked car location, find it again later, and optionally set parking timer reminders.

2. Data Controller and Contact Details

Controller for data processing related to ParkLocate:
Nino Bornemann
nino@elnino0916.de

3. Data the App Processes

ParkLocate processes the following categories of data on device:

  1. Precise location (device location services)
Used when the user taps “Save Parking” (or when Bluetooth auto-save triggers) to store the parked car position. Used to calculate distance from current position to parked car and open directions in the platform map app (for example Apple Maps on iOS). Not used for advertising/tracking.
  2. Approximate address (reverse geocoding)
The app converts saved coordinates into a human-readable approximate address. This lookup may use platform geocoding/map services provided by Apple and/or Google, depending on device and configuration. Address is stored with the parking entry for convenience.
  3. Notes and optional photo
User can add text notes and a camera photo to a parking entry. Stored locally on device as part of parking data.
  4. Bluetooth data (optional feature)
App monitors Bluetooth connection/disconnection to optionally auto-save parking when selected car/Bluetooth device disconnects. May store selected Bluetooth device name for matching. Used only for this feature, not tracking.
  5. Notifications
Used for local parking timer reminders (e.g., before timer expires). No marketing push notifications.
  6. App shortcuts / widgets / platform integrations
Parking snapshot data may be shared locally with enabled platform integrations (such as widgets, shortcuts, lock-screen/live surfaces, or equivalent features available on the device) to show current parking status.

4. Purposes and Legal Bases (GDPR)

Processing is based on:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): where device permissions are required (e.g., location, Bluetooth, camera, notifications), processing occurs after user grant and can be revoked in iOS Settings or Android system settings.
  • App functionality (Article 6(1)(b) and/or 6(1)(f) GDPR): processing required to provide core parking-location features requested by the user and maintain reliable app operation.

5. Where Data Is Stored

Parking data (location, address, notes, photo, timer settings, history) is stored locally on the user’s device (UserDefaults/app group storage). No user account is required. There is no in-app backend/server database for parking data.

6. Recipients and Third-Party Services

ParkLocate does not sell personal data, does not use third-party advertising SDKs, and does not perform cross-app tracking. Data may be processed by platform services (including Apple and/or Google system services) when maps, geocoding, and notifications are used.

7. Data Sharing

  • No sale of personal data.
  • No third-party advertising SDKs.
  • No cross-app tracking.
  • Apple and/or Google platform services may process relevant data when maps/geocoding/notifications are used.

8. Retention and Deletion

Data is retained on device until the user deletes it. Users can clear the current parking spot and clear parking history in the app. Removing app data or uninstalling the app also removes local parking data stored by the app.

9. User Control and User Rights

Users can revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings or Android system settings (for example: Location, Bluetooth, Camera, Notifications). Under applicable law (including GDPR), users may have rights to access, deletion, objection, and to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.

10. Children’s Privacy

ParkLocate is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

11. Security Measures

ParkLocate uses platform-provided safeguards and local device storage controls to protect data. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

12. Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes. The current version is always published on this page.
